The Elevator plate is a very simple but extremely effective assembly that greatly improves the distribution of air and fuel on a supercharged engine. Its effectiveness is best demonstrated when used on a carbureted blower motor, but is still a benefit to injected engines. The plate sets the blower back and up on the engine allowing for the air and fuel to be blown directly into the center of the plenum. It’s ventury opening accelerates the charge and distributes beautifully while maximizing atomization. The bottom plate bolt holes are slotted to allow for 2 inches of movement forward and back on the engine, so that the engine can be more closely balanced from front to rear. The Elevator plate is the creation of necessity after a two week dyno session with a blown BBC 565 built for a customer using a pair of Alcohol Dominators on top of a 10-71 blower. When we started the dyno session on this particular engine a full pull was not even possible due to extremely hot egt’s on some cylinders, while other cylinders were dropping cold. With the plate built and installed on the test engine we were able to get all 8 egt’s within 75 degrees of each other, and the ignition timing requirement for the engine went down.
